He has been World Champion, Pan American Champion, World Bronze Medalist, and five-time Champion of Campeonato Internacional de Masters e Seniors de Jiu-Jitsu. He is also one of the founders of Alliance Jiu-Jitsu—the only team to win every major BJJ competition in a single year—and heads their academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Good book that covers lots of offensive techniques. I appreciate the quality of the pictures , but some pictures seem to omit some grips or placement of some body parts due to the angle of the pictures. If you are familiar with BJJ and have been practicing for longer then 1 yr then this will be good for you. If you are a beginner then i would not recommend on buying this book.

I am new to this martial art and as a woman who is in her early 40's I needed this book to give me clear descriptions of the moves I would do each day in my fundamentals class. I actually learned more from the book than from my instructors at class. It is very detailed and gives you step by step instructions for each maneuver.

I own several book on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques and this is the best. Whoever trains in Jiu-Jitsu knows that there are thousands of techniques and hundreds of variation for each one and tons of new ones that are created daily. So the only way you can really rate a book on techniques is by the lay out. This book has a ton of color pictures with easy to understand arrows to walk you through the move. And through out each techniques he points out simple mistakes or variations that can get you into trouble. I highly recommend this for anyone who trains. Remember practicing moves from a book can only help an already solid game. This means you need to be part of a gym/school/dojo to build/maintain and grow your game.

I love the book, its intro is short and simple and is very detailed about instructing techniques.

Paiva is awesome. If you've trained bjj for a while, you've probably seen most of the positions in this book. However he puts a little twist on most of them and at a certain level of the game, little things make a big difference. Love it

Noritaka Minami is Assistant Professor of Photography at Loyola University Chicago. He has also taught at Harvard University, Wellesley College, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, University of California Berkeley, and University of California, Irvine. Minami received his BA in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004, and his MFA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine in 2011. Exhibitions of his works have been held at UCLA Department of Architecture and Urban Design, Las Cienegas Projects, Griffin Museum of Photography, and Kana Kawanishi Gallery. He is a recipient of grants from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and Center for Photography at Woodstock.

Julian Rose is a senior editor at Artforum and a founding principal of the award-winning design studio formlessfinder. Trained in both art history and architectural practice, he creates design work and scholarship that investigate historical and contemporary interchanges between art and architecture, focusing on problems of material, form, and tectonics. If you’re in nursing school you know mental health has a lot of gray areas. It’s not like pharm or Med surg where it’s “this is right and this is wrong”. This book helped me SIGNIFICANTLY to understand WHY certain answers were correct/incorrect. It helped me to think critically a different way than I’m used to. I failed my first mental health test. The second & third test after that I got OVER 90%. I did all the questions In this book under the section we were learning, read through the notes ONCE. And that’s IT. DEFINITELY get this book if you’re struggling in mental health or afraid of what’s to come in mental health. Best decision I’ve made in nursing school so far.

This book has been so helpful prepping for psych exams. The questions are really similar to our test questions and the rationales are great.

Not only does it give you the correct answer w rational it gives you the wrong answer and tells you why it’s wrong I have learned a lot from this book it’s a great resource

lots of typos and very few insignificant changes from the last edition to this newest edition. save your money and get the older edition. it has the same typos and just a few minor detail changes and is cheaper.

I used all of the Davis Success books throughout nursing school. They really helped me understand how to answer NCLEX style questions & apply my knowledge. I highly recommend these books to all nursing students!

This book is a must have. If for nothing else, the rationales. They're some of the best I've seen as far as NCLEX questions. Don't wait until you're reviewing for the NCLEX to get the book. Use it during the program!! It was a definite piece of my study routine and I don't believe I would've done as well without it.
